Juicing Obsession

Happy New Year everyone!

I hope you all had a lovely festive season, I must have been on the good list this year as I received a Nutri-Ninja from that jolly old man in red. I am totally in love with this machine.

My first, at-home, juicing experience came in the form of a clunky old machine the size of a Smart Car. Bought from a charity shop for £5, it was a delectable, aged-yellow colour. Yummy. This monstrous being basically squeezed all the water out my fruit and veg and spat out the leftovers into a massive jug. I would then need an engineering degree to take it apart and put it back together, ready for the next trickle of juice I wanted.

So getting a machine that blends EVERYTHING (no leftovers), comes apart simply with a quick twist, and is the size of a normal kitchen appliance, was amazing and hand-clappingly exciting.

I’ve now been juicing everything since Boxing Day so thought I’d share a few of my favourite concoctions with you.

Green Juice

  • Pineapple
  • Spinach
  • Pak Choi
  • Pear
  • Avocado

Ginger Warmer

  • Carrots
  • Ginger
  • Melon
  • Water

Leftovers from the fridge Juice

  • Kale
  • Spinach
  • Avocado
  • Pineapple
  • Kiwi
  • Apple

I’ve found adding water to all of the above is necessary otherwise you end up with a sturdy lump that you have to suck out the cup. Yummy. Oh, and remember to cut the stalks off the kale leaves otherwise it can get a bit gritty.

I’ve been sticking with juices rather than smoothies as I find them easier to drink. I did buy some raw beets the other day so think I will throw them in tomorrow’s guzzler.

If you have any great recipes them please list them below. Always game for trying new ideas.
